Shaheen Bagh activists leave protest site due to rain

Shaheen Bagh

New Delhi,  The sit-in site at Shaheen Bagh, the epicentre of the protest against new citizenship law (CAA), looked deserted on Thursday evening as rain lashed parts of the national capital.

To protect themselves from the rain, protesters took shelter in corridors of the showrooms.

“We have not vacated the protest site, but taken shelter in the showrooms to escape the rain.

The Supreme Court-appointed interlocutors Sanjay Hegde and Sadhna Ramachandran on Tuesday requested protesters to vacate the site as the Holi gift to the commuters.

They were there to initiate second round of talks with protestors.

“We expect that our sisters will send love to India on the occasion of Holi from Shaheen Bagh. Sisters can give the Holi gift in advance. We will celebrate Holi this month. We will hug each other on Holi,” said an interlocutor.

They also told protestors that their demands had been conveyed to the Supreme Court. “Whatever you wanted, we conveyed it to the Supreme Court. We have submitted our report to the Supreme Court,” said an interlocutor.
