SEVA Trust UK awarded ‘Charity of the Year’ at British Indian Awards 2019

The 7th British Indian awards were held at Birmingham conference Centre on 26/07/2019. Social Education Voluntary Association (SEVA) Trust UK, a Bedford based international charity working on Education, Health and Environment, was shortlisted along with 8 other leading British Indian charities and was announced as the winner of the highly prestigious award.

On behalf of SEVA Trust, Chairman Charan Kanwal Sekhon, Vice-chair Dr Baljit Kaur Upadhyay, Trustee Satnam Galsin and Trust advisory board member Dr Opinderjit Kaur Takhar accepted the award.

Whist accepting the award, the SEVA team thanked all the volunteers and supporters for their hard work and dedication and said that the Trust operates under a 100% donation policy which means all their volunteers are unpaid doing selfless service in line with the SEVA teachings of Guru Nanak. SEVA Trust has supported over 150 students from low income families from Punjab and Haryana in India and installed the first solar power plant for a Govt. Elementary school in a rural village of Punjab helping to meet electricity requirements for the school and facilitating basic needs for children. SEVA team has delivered many community and youth projects in Bedford on health awareness and environment since the charity was set up only 3 years ago.

The Awards evening saw the recognition of 32 individuals and organisations for their exceptional achievements in different fields.
