Priyanka wows people in east Delhi roadshow

New Delhi: Congress General Secretary (Uttar Pradesh East) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra participates in a roadshow as she campaigns for the party's Lok Sabha candidate from South Delhi, Vijender Singh ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, in New Delhi on May 8, 2019.

New Delhi,  Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi won a lot of hearts as she took out a roadshow in Delhi North East constituency on Wednesday for Congress candidate and former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Her 2.2-km-long roadshow in east Delhi’s Seelampur area saw people gathered on both sides of the roads as well as on the dividers while several came out on their roofs to see the Congress General Secretary wave to them.

Gandhi also tried to charm the people, making sure to call children to her vehicle at regular intervals, have a small chat with them and offered them a selfie.

Though the constituency is currently represented by Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari, but many of those who were out said that this roadshow might just turn things difficult for him.

“Even though Sheilaji could not impress us with her work, but it is about the country and most of us believe that once we send Congress people to parliament Priyankaji would be given important responsibility,” said Mohammad Parvez who had come with his daughter for the roadshow.

Some female supporters of the Congress said that Gandhi was a source of inspiration and they believed that she will soon lead a women revolution in the country to ensure more opportunities for females.

“When we see her, we realise that we can also stand shoulder to shoulder with males. She has been undoubtedly been a great strength for Rahul Gandhi and we are sure she will open new opportunities for us,” said Minakshi Anand.

However, all does not seem rosy for the Congress with many in the constituency also feel that Congress might not get enough seats to form a government and in that, the country might lack a good leader, citing the example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Even though the BJP MP has failed to impress us with the work, but for the sake of the nation, we will vote for the BJP. Only Modi can take nation to the better future,” Sadiq said, while trying to get a selfie with Gandhi.
