Pakistan challenges India’s UNSC candidature

Islamabad, Nov 26 (IANS) Pakistan has challenged India’s qualifications for the UN Security Council’s permanent and non-permanent membership.

Speaking at UN General Assembly, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Munir Akram said India was in blatant violation of the UNSC resolutions aimed at resolving Kashmir issue, The Express Tribune reported.

He alleged that New Delhi has imposed a complete lockdown in Kashmir valley for over 100 days.

India has been a UNSC member for seven terms, with each term running for two years.
