Kamal Haasan’s MNM to skip local body polls

Chennai,  Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan here on Sunday announced that his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) would not contest local body polls.

In a statement, Kamal Haasan said the local body polls would not secure any advantage for the party. The party’s goal was to capture power in the state, winning the 2021 Assembly polls, he added.

Meanwhile, the Rajini Makkal Mandram said actor Rajinikanth would not be supporting any political party in the local body elections. It warned people not to seek votes using the actor’s name or his image.

Rajinikanth plans to float a party and contest the 2021 Assembly polls.

The local body polls will be held in Tamil Nadu on December 27 and December 30.
