JNU celebrates  63rd Mahaparinirvas Diwas  of Dr B.R. Ambedkar

On 6th December, 2018, Jawaharlal Nehru University celebrated 63rd Mahaparinivas Diwas at the convention centre, JNU, New Delhi. During the celebration Shri PS Krishnan, Former Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India,  Prof RP Singh, Rector III JNU, Prof Sheela Reedy  & Prof M. Jagdish Kumar, Vice- Chancellor, JNU spoke on the occasion.

Shri PS Krishnan, Former Secretary of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment spoke about the current situation of government jobs. He said, “there is no SC/ST Supreme Court Judge. Out of 24 High Court Judges there is only one Backward class Judge. This imbalance needs to be removed” Speaking on the education, he said, “there is need to provide quality education to the people of the marginalized groups so that they could take benefit of technology and innovation”.

Prof. M Jagdish Kumar, Vice- Chancellor JNU said, “there is need to imbibe the social & economic philosophy of Dr BR Ambedkar.

Professor Vivek Kumar, Chairperson, Centre for the Study of  Social Systems, JNU coordinated the programme.

Thousands of employees and students participated in the programme.
