Himachal to host paragliding pre-World Cup

Shimla,  Himachal Pradesh will host the paragliding pre-Word Cup at Bir Billing in Kangra district from March 31, event organisers said on Saturday.

State Additional Chief Secretary (tourism and civil aviation) R.D. Dhiman told the media here that the Paragliding World Cup Association (PWCA) has given permission to organise the pre-World Cup that will last till April 5.

He said 100 pilots from 28 different countries would participate in the event.

Bir Billing is one of the most sought after paragliding sites in the world. Earlier, the world-level event was organised there in 2015.

An arrangement for a helicopter has also been made for the safety of the participants, he said.

The event is being organised by the Department of Tourism and the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports in Manali.
