Guests at weddings, events limited to 50 in K’taka: Official

Karnataka's Kalaburagi police rounded up a few people in Ravoor village for violating the Covid lockdown to take out a chariot procession on Thursday morning.

Bengaluru, (Samajweekly) Guests and visitors at weddings and events have been restricted to 50 in Karnataka as part of partial easing of lockdown, an official said on Friday.

“The marriage event shall allow a maximum number of guests of not more than 50,” ordered state Health and Family Welfare Services Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey in his advisory.

All weddings and events in Karnataka must obtain prior permission, including travel passes from local authorities.

Government will also identify a nodal person to oversee the arrangements and coordination at venues.

“The event shall be conducted in a suitable public place with good natural ventilation, no air condition. Persons from containment zone shall not be allowed to attend the event,” he said.

People older than 65 years age, pregnant women and children below 10 are also not permitted at attend events.

Thermal screening of all visitors and hand sanitisers must be made available at the venues.

“Anyone found having fever, cold, cough, difficulty in breathing shall not be permitted to attend the event and immediately referred to seek medical advice,” said Pandey.

Wearing a face mask and maintaining physical distancing must be adhered to while consuming liquor, betel leaves, tobacco, spitting and other prohibited activities are banned.

Similarly, organisers of weddings and events must maintain a list of attendees, including contact details.

All the guests must also download Arogya Setu app on their phones.

“In view of ongoing COVID pandemic, Government of India has taken a decision to ease the lockdown in phased manner and provided guidelines,” added Pandey about the 17 guidelines he issued.
