Covid-19 cases rise to 938 in MP, no deaths in 24 hrs

Bhopal (Samajweekly) With 181 persons testing positive on Wednesday, the number of coronavirus cases in Madhya Pradesh rose to 938, a release from the health department said.

However, no new death was reported in the past 24 hours, as the Covid-19 toll in the state stood at 53, said the health department officials.

The virus has so far covered half of the 52 districts in the state. The new districts from where cases were reported on Wednesday included Agar Malwa and Alirajpur.

Indore has 544 cases in the state with 117 getting reported in the last 24 hours. Nine more cases were reported from Bhopal, taking the tally in the state capital to 167. Khargone jumped to the third spot with 22 more testing positive, taking the district’s tally to 39.

Of the 53 deaths in the state, 37 were reported from Indore alone. So far, five persons have died in Bhopal, six in Ujjain, three in Khargone and one each in Chhindwara and Dewas.

The number of corona positive cases in the other districts are: Morena 14, Jabalpur 12, Ujjain 30 (4 new), Hoshangabad 16 (one new), Barwani 22 (5 new), Raisen 04, Gwalior six, Khandwa 16 (one new), Dewas 15 (8 new), Sheopur 3, Vidisha 13, Chhindwara 4, Satna 2, Dhar 3, Shivpuri 2, Ratlam 12 (10 new), Shajapur 4, Mandsaur 2 and 1 each in Betul, Tikamgarh and Sagar.

On Wednesday Agar Malwa reported three cases while 1 case was reported from Alirajpur, the health department said.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday said the numbers would appear higher since rapid tests have been made available only recently and more tests are being conducted now.
