Celebrate Diwali with ASDA in 2020

(Samaj Weekly)

This Diwali is going to be full of new ideas and unique ways of bonding with family and friends. In the ‘new normal’ virtual parties will replace the community events and prayers will be offered from the safety of our homes. But, when it comes to Diwali delicacies and family favourites, there will be a generous exchange of ideas and inspiration. This year ASDA has gone the extra mile to make your Diwali as fun and festive as possible, as we celebrate Diwali in the ‘new normal’.

To showcase their Diwali range and get everyone feeling festive, ASDA has collaborated with popular Indian food bloggers to kick off the festivities.

Just because Diwali is different this year doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate with just as much gusto as before, even if it requires us to think outside the box a little, like Sukhi Singh (@cooking_with_sukhi) who states, “This year I’m going to socially distance and deliver all my close family and friends food packages made using my favourite ASDA ingredients. They always come to our Diwali party and this year the party will be virtual, we’ll enjoy all the festive treats via webcam.”

Similarly, Madhurima Chowdhury (@kitchenmai) will also be celebrating virtually, “Even though this Diwali is going to be different, we’re all set to celebrate the festival of lights virtually, with family and friends and we’ll be able to make and enjoy our favourite Diwali goodies, thanks to ASDA’s wonderful collection of ingredients,” she adds.

In the spirit of doing something different this year, ASDA has filmed a #DontRushChallenge style video featuring Dr Chintal Patel, Sukhi Singh, Radhika Howarth, Kripa Dewani and Madhurima Chowdhury, who all joined hands (virtually) to showcase some of the ASDA range and their Diwali recipes in a fun video to kick off the festivities. While this video features products like, ASDA Almonds, Pistachios, Butter Ghee, and Desiccated Coconut, the entire Diwali range at ASDA is diverse and has a huge selection of products and brands for everyone. The food bloggers shared their favourite Diwali recipes including dishes like Barfi, Motichoor Ladoos, Chanar Payesh and Khajur Rolls.

All these bloggers have had to make small changes to make Diwali special for their loved ones in the ‘new normal’ but have remained connected through food, and this is something we can all continue to do with a little help from ASDA.

Dr Chintal Patel (@drchintalskitchen) who features in the video states, “I’m not going to let a virus spoil our festivities so I’m delighted to have teamed up with ASDA to highlight the amazing range of Diwali goodies they have in store. Just look at what we all managed to cook up with the goodies they have stocked up in their Diwali aisles.”

Radhika Howarth (@radikalkitchen) has also had to make some changes this Diwali but is determined to keep her festive traditions strong. “Mum cannot be here this Diwali to celebrate together, so I am making the traditional recipes she would always make for Diwali,

using ASDA’s range of ingredients, so that we can virtually connect and feel the same festive vibe with the delicacies,” she states.

The feeling of togetherness will not be lost this Diwali, and ASDA’s video features a heart-warming moment with Kripa Dewani (@15min_mom) and her three children to remind us of this. “Teaming up with ASDA this Diwali with my three little ones excited about sweet treats, was a fun way of starting the festive season. I’m already stocked up for Diwali, thanks to ASDA and my family is in high spirits ready to celebrate in a socially distanced way,” she adds.

ASDA is here to cater to all your family’s needs this festival of lights so you can continue to celebrate with the same zest and joy as always. At ASDA, you can find all the goodies featured in their Diwali video and much more. Their vast Diwali range contains all the ingredients you need to make all your favourite dishes and they are offering special discounts for the festive season that you don’t want to miss.
