BJP MP alleges politics in distributing relief materials in Jhargram

Kolkata: Traffic police personnel on duty at deserted road during the nationwide lockdown in the wake of COVID 19 Coronavirus pandemic in Kolkata .

Kolkata, (Samajweekly) BJP MP from Jhargram Kunar Hembram on Tuesday alleged that a number of tribal families in his constituency were not given relief materials as the recommendation letters had his signature.

Hembram claimed that 22 tribal families in his area had collected the recommendation letters from him for getting relief, but when they went to the Block Development Officer, Jhargram, he refused to give them the materials.

“I feel so helpless. The administration is playing politics at this time of crisis. It is giving relief to tribals after ascertaining their political colours,” said Hembram.

The MP called up Jhargram District Magistrate Ayesha Rani, who assured him that they would get the relief materials from the BDO office on Wednesday.
