Ahmed Patel demands relief from power bill for EWS consumers

New Delhi, (Samajweekly) After the central government announced economic package on Covid-19, Congress treasurer Ahmed Patel on Friday demanded relief for power consumers belonging to economically weaker sections from the power bill.

Ahmed Patel said, “The Central government must look into the possibility of giving some relief, rebate in power bill for economically weaker consumers.”

Addressing his demand to Union Power Minister, Patel tweeted: “Many households do not have regular incomes & won’t be in a position to pay rising power bills, particularly in summer season.”

The Central government has approved a Covid-19 emergency response and health system preparedness package in a bid to strengthen the national and state health systems.

“The project will be implemented with the objectives of emergency COVID-19 response, strengthening national and state systems, procurement of essential medical equipment and drugs, strengthening of surveillance including setting up of laboratories and bio-security preparedness,” the letter addressed to additional chief secretaries, principal secretary and commissioner of state and union territories, stated.
