Activists of upper caste bodies stage protest against SC/ST Act

Patna,   Activists from various upper caste organisations on Thursday protested against the amended SC/ST Act.

The protesters expressed their anger towards the Central government and staged protests in front of Bharatiya Janata Party and its ally Janata Dal-United headquarters here.

Hundreds of upper caste activists belonging to Akhil Bhartiya Bhumihar Brahmin Mahasabha, Bhumi Gsb Brahmin Adhikar Manch, Swarn Ekta Manch, Swarn Sena and Swarn Morcha and Arakhshan Nayay Andolan, took to streets and demanded the withdrawal of the amended SC/ST Act .

During the protest they shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Earlier in September, normal life was affected in the state due to a nationwide shutdown called by dozens of upper caste groups to protest against the amendment to the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act restoring the provision for the immediate arrest of the accused on the basis of any complaint without any preliminary inquiry.
