AAP MLA seeks Amit Shah’s intervention in Mukherjee Nagar case

New Delhi: Protesters gather around Mukherjee Nagar police station to demand suspension of policemen allegedly involved in brutally beating up a Sikh driver and his son

New Delhi,  Delhi’s AAP lawmaker Jarnail Singh on Wednesday urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take strict action in the incident where a tempo driver and his son were beaten up by policemen in the capital’s Mukherjee Nagar area.

In the two-page letter to Shah in Hindi, Singh said that the Delhi Police is controlled by the Home Ministry and such incidents puts a question mark on the law and order situation here.

“I hope the Home Minister looks into the law and order situation in the national capital and take strict steps so that such incidents do not recur,” he said.

He also urged the Home Minister to take action against the police personnel involved in the incident and to direct the police force to deal with such a situation with sensitivity.

On June 16, a minor incident of road rage turned into a major clash when few policemen tried to overpower Sarbjeet Singh — the tempo driver, who threatened them with his kripan, and later allegedly beat him and his minor son.
