Pankaj Singh has been a veteran land rights activist based in Champaran Bihar. He was arrested for raising the issue of Mushahar community’s land rights. He remained in jail for several months till Patna High Court granted him bail. As a person who participated in JP movement in 1974-75 when Nitish Kumar himself was a part, Pankaj Singh asked uncomfortable questions about why Nitish Kumar was not keen to discuss and debate the Bandhopadhyay Commission Report.

We all are speaking about farmer’s issues and we stand with them but this interview will give you a glimpse of how the Zamindari Abolition Act and Land Ceiling Act in Bihar became defunct ?

Will the government act and undo the historical wrongs with Bihar’s most marginalised communities. Sharing this conversation of mine with Shri Pankaj Singh.

श्री पंकज सिंह बिहार में भूमि अधिकारों के लिए संघर्षरत एक वरिष्ठ सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता है जिन्होंने १९७४ के जे पी आन्दोलन में भी सक्रिय भूमिका निभाई थी. मुशहर समाज के भूमि संघर्षो के दौरान उन्हें जेल भी जाना पडा और करीब ६ महीने के बाद उन्हें पटना हाई कोर्ट ने जमानत प्रदान की. आज जब हम किसान की बात कर रहे हैं तो थोड़ा खेतिहर मजदूरों और दलित आदिवासियों के प्रश्नों को भी देख ले जो खेती तो करते है लेकिन खेतो के मालिक नहीं है . क्यों नहीं लैंड सीलिंग क़ानून ईमानदारी से लागू किया गया. बंधोपाध्याय समिति की रिपोर्ट का क्या हुआ. भूमि आन्दोलन के साथियो के लिए बेहद महत्वपूर्ण वार्तालाप.
